Welcome to Meetumo! These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of our event ticketing platform and services. By accessing or using Meetumo, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use our platform.

Definitions

Platform or Service

Refers to the Meetumo website, mobile applications, and all related services.

User, You, or Your

Refers to any individual or entity that accesses or uses the Platform.

Creator or Event Organizer

Refers to users who create and manage events on the Platform.

Attendee

Refers to users who purchase tickets and attend events through the Platform.

Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account, accessing, or using the Platform, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you are using the Platform on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Meetumo. Please read them carefully before proceeding.

User Accounts

Account Creation

To use certain features of the Platform, you must create an account. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate, current, and complete information
  • Maintain and update your account information
  • Keep your password secure and confidential
  • Accept responsibility for all activities under your account
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use

Account Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time for violations of these Terms, illegal activity, or at our discretion. You may also terminate your account at any time through your account settings.

Platform Use & Conduct

Permitted Use

  • Create and manage legitimate events
  • Purchase tickets for events you intend to attend
  • Use the platform for its intended purposes
  • Provide honest feedback and reviews

Prohibited Activities

  • Create fake or fraudulent events
  • Scalp or resell tickets at inflated prices
  • Violate any applicable laws or regulations
  • Harass, bully, abuse, or harm other users
  • Post hate speech, threats, or discriminatory content
  • Share sexually explicit or violent material
  • Post content harmful to minors
  • Engage in spam, scams, or deceptive practices

Content Policy & Moderation

Zero-Tolerance Policy

Meetumo maintains a zero-tolerance policy for objectionable content. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Harassment, bullying, or intimidation of any kind
  • Hate speech or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or any other protected characteristic
  • Threats of violence or promotion of violent behavior
  • Sexually explicit or pornographic material
  • Content that is harmful to minors or exploits children in any way
  • Spam, scams, phishing, or any form of fraudulent activity
  • Defamatory, libelous, or knowingly false content
  • Content that infringes on intellectual property rights

Violators will have their content immediately removed and their accounts suspended or permanently terminated without prior notice.

24-Hour Moderation Commitment

We are committed to maintaining a safe and respectful community. Our moderation team reviews all user reports within 24 hours of submission.

  • All reported content is reviewed by our dedicated moderation team
  • Reports are processed within 24 hours of submission
  • Content deemed to violate our policies is promptly removed
  • Users who repeatedly violate policies face escalating consequences
  • Serious violations result in immediate account termination

Automated Content Filtering

Meetumo employs advanced automated systems that proactively detect and block objectionable content before it reaches our community. Our content filtering technology is continuously improved to maintain a safe environment.

  • Real-time scanning of all posts and comments before publication
  • Detection of profanity, hate speech, and harmful content
  • Multi-language support including English and Nigerian Pidgin
  • Advanced detection of obfuscation attempts (e.g., character substitution)
  • Automatic flagging for human review when content is blocked
  • Continuous improvement of filtering algorithms

Content that is blocked by our automated systems is flagged for moderation review, and users who repeatedly attempt to post prohibited content may face account restrictions.

Your Safety Tools

Meetumo provides you with tools to protect yourself and help maintain our community standards:

Report Content

Flag posts, comments, messages, or users that violate our policies. All reports are reviewed within 24 hours.

Block Users

Block any user to prevent them from viewing your content, messaging you, or interacting with you on the platform.

Event Creation & Management

Creator Responsibilities

Event creators agree to:

  • Provide accurate and complete event information
  • Honor all ticket sales and event commitments
  • Comply with all applicable laws and venue policies
  • Obtain all necessary regulatory clearances (e.g., Lagos State Safety Commission clearance for events with over 250 attendees)
  • Maintain clear communication with attendees
  • Process refunds according to our refund policy
  • Respect intellectual property rights

Event Cancellations

If you need to cancel an event, you must notify all ticket holders immediately. Refund policies will apply based on the timing of the cancellation and as specified in your event description.

Ticket Sales & Refunds

Payment Processing

All ticket sales are processed through secure third-party payment processors. Meetumo does not store your payment information.

Refund Policy

Refund eligibility depends on the event creator’s refund policy and timing:

  • • Event cancellations: Full refunds guaranteed
  • • Creator-set policies: Follow individual event terms
  • • Platform fees: Non-refundable once event is confirmed
  • • Processing fees: May apply to refund transactions

Ticket Transfers

Tickets are non-transferable unless explicitly permitted by the event creator. Attempting to transfer tickets may result in account suspension.

Intellectual Property

Platform Content

The Platform and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by Meetumo and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

User Content

By posting content on the Platform, you grant Meetumo a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, and worldwide license to use, display, and distribute your content in connection with the Platform's operation.

DMCA Compliance

We respect intellectual property rights and respond to valid DMCA takedown notices. If you believe your work has been infringed, please contact us.

Disclaimers & Limitations of Liability

Service Availability

The Platform is provided "as is" and "as available." We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation, though we strive to maintain high availability.

Event Accuracy

While we verify event information, we are not responsible for the accuracy of event details, changes, or cancellations by event creators.

Third-Party Services

The Platform may integrate with third-party services. We are not liable for the actions, omissions, or policies of these third parties.

In no event shall Meetumo be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or relating to your use of the Platform.
